The Bullman Saddle by Buzzard Roost is a premium saddle.
Far and away the most comfortable and practical saddle I have used.
In the previous 7 years, we tried many different saddles from many different companies including designs of our own.
None of them offered the comfort we were after while still keeping to our minimalist roots.
A simple search on Facebook found the hands down favorite for comfort, to be the Buzzard Roost saddle, so we tried one while still experimenting with our own new versions.
The comfort and functionality were so superior to any other saddles tried, we thought why re-invent the wheel?!
I just REALLY don’t like the belt buckle that comes with nearly every saddle, as they easily loosen while you’re walking in. I was having second thoughts about selling them simply for this reason as all my designs had a rope belt. I’m that picky.
I talked to Benny the owner of Buzzard Roost and he said we can make the rope belt you love, for you.
He sent the prototype, and I fell in love!
A few points that separate this saddle from the pack-

The rope belt really is a game changer. No longer having to worry about your saddle sliding down as you walk in, and continuously tightening up your belt, should be a non-negotiable.

The Linemans belt connections are not a small separate connection point as most other saddles. The linesman belt can be connected at either of the obvious loops that make each end of the 2 saddle panels. This is unique to the Buzzard Roost Saddle and is much more advantageous to someone who relies on a linesman belt such as our climbing method does.

The comfort really is supreme. This is for a couple reasons. The way the buzzard roost saddles attach their bridge to the 2 different panel loops allows you to adjust the pressure points keeping all of the pressure away from the hips and upper back and allows you to spread the pressure more evenly through the center as well as ends of the saddle. This nearly eliminates the “hip pinch” issue talked about with most saddles. No other saddle has this feature

You can use this saddle as a single panel, with unbelievable adjustments (like I do) or you can open up the panels and find your best fit. Either way, you are getting the most comfortable saddle available!

Was able to climb tree after assembly and placement on tree. Very solid steps
I've been looking for something to help stream line the process ofmy packing saddle gear in and out. This bag is awesome. I don't like to wear my saddle into due to over heating. With this, I can pack everything in easily, especially that frustrating ring of steps. Saddle, ring of steps, tether, tree strap, lineman belt all easily fit in the 2 compartments. 4 additional pouches around the perimeter help with other small items (flash light, head lamps, Pruners etc.). I even laid my climbing sticks across the bag before closing the pouch. Easy transport right to the base of my tree, unpack my sticks, saddle on, and climb.

Better than I expected!!! Comfort blew me away. Don't sleep on it do your body a favor and buy it. Im 5'10 285lbs and it took all the pressure off my hips by being able to stand with a more open stance. Love this product
After a ton of research time on my end I landed here. Its important to note that i have never saddle hunted before. I have had zero issues using this to do so , so far. Adjusting everything for how you want it to fit is very important. But once you find what works, you can make quick work of a tree. I built stick sets and broke down the weight and value you get for the comfort on so many websites with different combinations and I believe this is still it. It simply just cant be beat for the money. And i believe it to be ths lightest way to get up a tree as well.. every other combination i put together was POUNDS heavier. Even when comparing something as regarded as one sticks. This must be truly the most lightweight and minimalist design setup to run. No sticks hanging off you to move up and i am toting the step bag in my kuiu 1800 bag. It fits perfect with my saddle! I think this is the setup every new saddle hunter should start with. Im glad I did.
I’ve sold my climbing sticks and just use these origin steps now. They’re light weight, rock solid , and simple to attach. There is no fiddle factor when setting these. I climbed a tree the other day where with a stick it would have been hard to climb , but being able to put a step anywhere I want is such a benefit.
Great choice if looking for a ring of steps. These steps are solid and secure when ratcheted tightly to the 15 to 18 inch diameter pine trees that I typically climb. The angled step profile is easy on my feet during a long hang.
If an old fat man can use them you know bullman steps are the deal! Use them and the ring of steps with my jx3 for a dream setup! Try them, you won’t be sorry!
I’m 62 & have never saddle hunted. it was a bit overwhelming at first but once I slowed down, trusted the system, and most importantly relaxed, i absolutely love it. I can do it! Tomorrow the true test…public land.
Light weight and easy to hang offering a more versatile set compared to a platform. The opportunity to adjust your position makes them very comfortable!!
Have not officially used them yet in a hunting situation, but sturdy and easy to secure.
I love everything about it. I am new to saddle world. I love the ring of steps. I bought the strap steps and I love them. The steps are mad perfect for my feet. I was surprised how much longer I stay in a tree. I am 6'4 250 and my first sit after practicing I was in the saddle for 5 hrs and I could not tell physically when I got out that I have been in a saddle for 5 hrs. It's nice being mobile and being able to play the wind.
I added three of these to my platform strap, gives me options to get around the tree without having to use my top step and while retaining the foot space of a platform. I’m a new saddle hunter so going from a tree stand platform to a true ring of steps was too big (small) of a jump but I wanted the benefit of 360 options on my setup
This pouch is perfect for 5 steps andratchet it’s a little tight for six, but it does work. I hope they keep making this pouch.

Overall, I really like the complete starter kit. Everything is high quality. Customer service has been great. The portability of this system over a climbing tree stand or platform and sticks is the selling point for me. The saddle is comfortable and the tether and lineman’s belt work really well. The ring of steps is solid. The only thing I am still not sure about yet is the amsteel ropes for the steps. I find it difficult to get the ropes tight enough to feel comfortable. I feel like cam buckle straps could get tighter and be more solid. For me, straps would be worth any added weight or time.
